Attorneys and Guardians

Power of Attorney
A power of attorney is a legal document which authorises another person (an 'attorney') to handle your affairs for you during your lifetime.
It is a simple and effective way to eliminate the worry of dealing with your finances if you should have an accident or become ill or incapable in later years. These can be arranged at any stage of your life for later use if necessary.
Guardianship
If ill health prevents you from appointing an attorney, a court may, if your family approves, appoint someone (a 'guardian') to manage your affairs. This process is more complex and costly than a power of attorney.
A welfare power of attorney can allow your family and friends to take health and personal welfare decisions for you.
We can prepare powers of attorney or arrange for a guardian to be appointed. Our partners will be pleased to act as your attorney or guardian if you feel that is appropriate.
